Guidlines for Standardization

REGULATION

The Ghana borehole drillers association is registered under and affiliated to Water Resource Commission, Ministry of Works and Housing, and Community Water and Sanitation Agency,

LEADERSHIP

The Association has selected leaders to run the day-to-day activities of the organization as well as see to the administration of the association. We are governed by set rules and constitution and outlined membership structure.

MEMBERSHIP

Members are recognized duly ONLY after they have officially gone through the membership registration process and been validated. Each member pays a yearly dues to be recognized; Members are also registered under the Water Resource Commission and receive a license to operate as borehole contractors.

IDENTIFICATION

Membership certificates/License and ID cards are issued to registered and paid members which are used for various purposes including identification, accessing of Rigs for drilling and solicitations of any kind.

GEOLOGISTS & GEOPHYSICIST

Association provides professional hydro-geologist to visits sites to be part of borehole drilling processes and also provide professional advice for proper operations on the field and assist in data collection.

DATA COLLECTION

A detailed drilling report system has been developed and implemented by the GBDA to enforce data collection on the field. This system is electronic or digital so that all contractors can access it either by a mobile App or from the Association website.

ADVOCACY

The Ghana Borehole drillers association advocates for Rig workers to be paid well. Most of workers in the borehole fraternity are not paid well and are subjected to disheartening work conditions. The association seeks to intervene for these Ghanaians workforce in the drilling companies

CAPACITY BUILDING

The GBDA in collaboration with the WRC and other relevant stakeholders organizeS regular capacity building workshops, seminars, symposiums, webinars etc. for member contractors, rig owners and drillers.

TAXES

The Association regularly reminds its member and encourage them to honour their tax and or financial obligations to the appropriate institution such as GRA etc. to be in good standing both in the Association and also with these regulatory bodies.

FAIR PRICING

Pricing standards in borehole business are maintained to ensure that there is sanity in the business. This helps member contractors to fairly price boreholes not out of greed or the fear of losing out but out of standards and prevailing market conditions, inflation and the economic situation of the country at every given time.

COMPLIANCE WITH QUALITY STANDARDS

To increase compliance with quality standards, the association collaborates with the WRC to sanitize to borehole business by enforcing and ensuring that Rig owners or drillers insist on drilling for registered and certified members. This is achieved by asking members to show proof of membership (in this case membership IDs, or certificates of registration).

JOB VACANCY & INTERNSHIPS

Student Internship programs, Capacity Building & Volunteering Programs, and access to hands on field experience shall be provided to academic stakeholders especially those in the field of geology such as Geologists, Hydro-geologist, Geotechnical experts, environmental students and workers etc.
